Privacy Policy
Prompt Duel does not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. If you are under 13, do not use this Service.
1. Who We Are
Prompt Duel is operated by Michael Langer. Contact: michael@promptduelai.com
2. Information We Collect
Account data: When you sign in with Google, GitHub, or email, we receive your email address and display name from the authentication provider.
Profile data: Display name, avatar selection, difficulty settings, voice preferences, and your chosen in-game epithet.
Game data: Battle history, outcomes, round counts, opponent records, and win/loss statistics.
Usage data: Page views, feature interactions, and session events collected via Google Analytics (GA4) and PostHog. This data is anonymized or pseudonymized where possible.
Subscription data: Subscription tier and expiry date, stored in our database. Full payment details are handled exclusively by Stripe and are never stored by Prompt Duel.
Guest users: No account data is collected. Anonymous session identifiers may be used for rate limiting.
3. How We Use Your Information
- To operate and provide the Service (authentication, game state, history)
- To enforce subscription limits and access controls
- To display your profile, stats, and leaderboard ranking
- To improve the game based on aggregate usage patterns
- To contact you about your account if necessary
We do not sell your personal data. We do not use your data for advertising targeting.
4. Children's Privacy (COPPA)
Prompt Duel is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13 years of age.
If we learn that we have inadvertently collected personal data from a child under 13, we will delete that data promptly. To report such a case, contact michael@promptduelai.com.
5. Third-Party Services
We use the following third-party services which have their own privacy policies:
- Firebase / Google — authentication and database (Firestore)
- Stripe — payment processing
- Groq — AI language model backend (battle content generation)
- ElevenLabs — AI voice synthesis
- Google Analytics (GA4) — usage analytics
- PostHog — product analytics and session replay
- Vercel — hosting and serverless functions
Your battle text inputs are sent to Groq for AI response generation. Groq's data handling is governed by their privacy policy.
6. Data Retention
We retain your account and game data for as long as your account is active. You may request deletion of your account and associated data at any time by contacting michael@promptduelai.com.
An in-app account deletion feature is in development.
7. Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal data. To exercise any of these rights, contact michael@promptduelai.com.
EU/EEA users: Prompt Duel is operated by an individual based in the United States. By using the Service you acknowledge that your data may be processed in the US.
8. Cookies and Tracking
We use browser localStorage to store your game preferences, session state, and authentication tokens. We do not use third-party advertising cookies.
Google Analytics and PostHog use cookies to track anonymized usage patterns. You may opt out of Google Analytics via browser extensions. PostHog session replay is limited to identified users only.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy at any time. The effective date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision. Continued use of the Service constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
